Wooden Stocking Banner

I know this is a little late being posted, but I was so busy trying to get ready for that craft show that I forgot all about posting this project.
InspirationSCAN0028
It is from the Holiday Crafts 2010 from Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection. The designer is Robin Kingsly. As I have stated before I can’t sew. So when I see a project like this I automatically picture how I can create it with wood and paint and or paper.
My Creation (oops, it appears I never took a picture of it before I gave it to my cousin. I will work on that, when she gets a chance and I will ask her to take one for me.)

Snowman Canvas

Inspiration SCAN0029
It is from the Holiday Crafts 2010 from Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection. The designer is Robin Kingsley. This pillow is just something I would have in my home during the holidays. I wish I was able enough with the sewing machine. Instead I created with paper and a canvas. Good ole Mod Podge.
My Creation 055
I again used one of those thin, flat canvases. Painted it red. I used the snowman pattern from the magazine to cut out the shapes (just a different size) and attached the pieces with Mod Podge. I then covered it with Mod Podge Gloss (I didn’t like that) and added the embellishments. I liked this so much that I made more, and then found a penguin I liked and did some penguins too. (None of these sold at the fair Sad smile.)

When I didn’t like how the Mod Podge Gloss looked I just sprayed them with the Mod Podge Gloss spray, you can’t really see the spots you see in the pictures.

Snowman Hanging

I found this card idea during a magazine browsing
Inspiration 007 (2)
My Creation 052
I took a small, flat canvas and painted it light blue. Then I taped it off and painted the red, gold and darker blue boxes. I used stencils to paint on the words, glued on buttons, and decorated a snowman cut out from my Cricut. I used puffy stickies to attach the snowman. Glued on some ribbon to the back and I have a winter wall picture.

Candleholders

006 (5)

Inspiration:

From Entertain Exchange. I loved hers more than mine.

My Creation:

candle holders

I need to learn how to stage my pictures better. I got the glasses from Dollar Tree and the longer candle holder, the two short candle holders are from Goodwill. The plate is from Walmart. I actually got it for another inspiration but it is too big. I need a perfect plate for that but I have not been able to find it. I used the E6000 on all of these as well. I actually talked about the eyeball one in the Eyes on You post. The good thing about the big holder, I didn’t glue any thing on it so I can use it for any holiday. (Those are my golf ball spiders!)

Halloween Birdhouses and Fences

010 (3)Some of this I have shown in other pictures but I never really talked about them. So here I am to share these projects with you.
Inspiration:

From Crafty Sisters. They are so colorful and fun. I loved these so much, but didn’t think I was going to do them. I didn’t even pay attention to what the actual shape of the birdhouses were.
My Creation:
066
I picked up the first birdhouse at Walmart, I saw it in the craft aisle and decided I was going to try it. I had so much fun making it, I picked up more houses. I am doing them for Christmas as well.
061062063
I picked up some fences at Dollar Tree. My son had liked my big fence project and decided I could make the little fences spooky.
Before: 014
They all looked similar to this in the beginning. The one I started with had a bird, a house and a flower. I removed the flower but left the house and bird. The bird didn’t look spooky enough after painting it so I ended up cutting off the beak and making it look more like a ghost. On the other two fences I removed all the flowers and stuff before painting them all black. 067
I will definitely make more of these next year, I liked them so much. And I LOVE the eyes.
Speaking of those eyes, I have posted 2 other times projects that I did with the eyes. But what I really wanted to do I hadn’t done yet. I finally did.Eye magnets
Magnets. So fun. I need advise though, I don’t really like the quality of the glass beads from Hobby Lobby, any suggestions? I also didn’t like how the stick on magnets from Walmart had the black part all over the part you can see. I guess the kind I have to glue on will be better.

Chip and Dip Stand

I have seen some great ideas out there on different “stands” for cake, candy, whatever.
This Inspiration is one of my favorites

It was done by Kristi over at the Speckled Dog.
My Creation

I actually had already picked up these bowls and plates from Target before I saw Kristi’s post. After seeing her post though I knew what I wanted to find for the “stand”. I found these wooden candle sticks at Goodwill. I took the base off, the metal out of the top and sprayed it with primer, then painted it that pretty Razzle Berry color. Then sprayed Mod Podge Acrylic Sealer on it. Glued the pieces together with Beacon E600. I love that I had the perfect color of paint to match the set =)

Wreaths, wreaths everywhere

I have made several wreaths in my time. (4 of which are in storage.) I have also seen a lot of wreaths out there in blogland the last few weeks by out of many different ingredients.
Fabric
motorcycle skull wreath 1
Madigan over at Madigan Made shared this on Tatertots and Jello.
Plastic

Wow is all I can say. That is a lot of plastic bottles I wouldn’t want to cut up, but Michele over at Michele Made Me sure did. And pulled it off with a bang.
Toothpicks

Ouch. I love this one but I sure wouldn’t want to have to move it to store or hang up. =) This was from Kristol over at The Magic of Ordinary Things.
Ribbon

Jen over at Tatertots and Jello put some time into this one.
Newspaper
Wreath17
Nice recycling from Malia at Yesterday on Tuesday.
Tulle is the ingredient I have wanted to use ever since I saw this one

I am really glad that Flamingo Toes shared to use the floral wreath form from Dollar Tree. They are nice and solid for only a $1.

Taylor-Ann at My Modish Mood used a embroidery hoop.

Tuesdee from Everyday is a Crafting Day made this look so simple.

I really like this one from Lindsey at Kindred Spirit Mommy. I have not seen those colors in the tulle rolls at JoAnns, Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. Guess I will have to check out ordering when I am ready to try this wreath again.

This is the first one I saw but I put it back in my memory file for later. Another simple looking one made by Courtney at Between U and Me.

After all this Inspiration (some of it before and some of it after I started mine) here is My Creation
011
I started with the nice $1 floral frame. Worked really well because it is stiff, not flaky and really sturdy. Not to mention that you can’t beat 1 buck. Even though it was recommended to use the tulle rolls, JoAnns barely had any colors. It just so happened that day tulle was 60% off. I got 4 yards of black and 4 yards of hot pink for a Valentine’s Day one for later. Cutting it wasn’t very easy though so I ended up with weird sizes. If you look closely you can tell it is all shorter on one side. The sign helped with that though. As I tied the tulle around the wreath I also wrapped the purple ribbon around and around. The plaque is from Walmart, another good buy for the perfect size. I painted it white and then covered that with Purple Extreme Glitter (my new love). 012I cut out the wicked with the Cricut in yellow cardstock paper and then went over it with black. Topped it all off with rhinestones. Then sprayed it with Acrylic sealer by Mod Podge. The little witch doll is from Hobby Lobby. I would check out Flamingo Toes for a good tutorial (but I didn’t use the boa).
