Mod Podged Office Organizers

I got this idea from another group party that has the theme as cardboard.  I started with a Swann's box, a Kleenex Box, a breakfast bar box, a Ziplock box and a box from a toy my son got yesterday.

Some scissors and masking tape later, I had these.

2 Albuquerque The Magazines and a bunch of Mod Podge later, I had a letter tray, business card holder and pen organizer.  I think I am going to embellish them a little more later, but here they are.

Reuse/Recycle Mayhem

I went a shopping this weekend, spent maybe $30 on all things I found.  Went to some Goodwill's and Savers.  Though I don't like the smell in those places, I had a grand time going down all the non-clothes aisles.  I wish I had more money because I also saw some furniture I would have liked to have gotten to fix up.  Here is a peak at what I picked up.  I can't wait to get them all created...I then found this fence in the backyard and oohy OH.  My son was a little upset because he was who painted it four years ago, but it was time for a change.

The Kid's Eye View

I was going through my camera today, which had pictures on it still from 2 years ago.  (I have the iPhone that I use to take most of my pictures these days.)  And this is what happens when a 5 year old decides to get the camera out.

A Creative Birthday Theme

Today was Brendan's 7th birthday.  I decided I would have a party for him, he really has only had 1 real party.  Being on a budget, I found Pirate stickers on sale at Hobby Lobby and decided to make that the theme.  I even made the invitations.  No small feat here, B is very picky; he doesn't like cake.  I knew I wanted to be able to make the cake look like a cave, so I ended up making Monkey Bread.  (He loves cinnamon and sugar.)

I pulled the front down to look like the collapsed cave.  The monkey bread worked out well because it looks like boulders.  Then I added a pile of gold and some pirate figures.  The gold is actually Mini Nilla Wafers.  Also something Brendan would eat.  I was really lucky and found some candles that were perfect for the effect.  The Crew's Booty was also pure luck, being that all the Halloween stuff is already out at the stores.  I was able to get skeleton items all around.
No one else seemed to be as impressed as I was about my gift wrapping...I thought they looked very much like a Pirate's wrapped goods.

A Year of Gratitude

I have added a tab called A Year of Gratitude.  Every day for a year I will be adding what I am grateful for.  Inspired by another project, I am learning that finding the right picture for my post is not as easy as finding the right words for the picture.

Honorable Mention

I wanted to thank Kevin and Amanda for the awesome fonts found in my titles, and the tutorials on how to get them into your blog.  This couple rocks.

Decoupaging

Recently I stumbled upon Mod Podge Rocks through a post of paint chip projects.  I had heard of decoupaging before but had never heard of how to do it or what Mod Podge was.  So today I went and got some Mod Podge and tried it out.  I am ready to try some other projects.  Thank you Amy for all your ideas.
